چکیده
Second harmonic generation (SHG) is a unique non-linear optical effect that can be used to investigate chemical states of molecules at surfaces/interfaces. By the use soft X-rays, SHG gains element selectivity through inner-core excitation resonance. However, it challenging observe signals separately from second-order light generated undulator. Here, we report new ellipsometry method for X-ray suppress contribution second-harmonic radiation source. Through measurements GaAs(100) crystal, demonstrate pure obtained horizontally polarized component. The present generally applicable regardless incident photon energy and hence absorption edge targeted materials. If combined with filters blocking equipped phase shifters, allows one obtain further information such as tensor components susceptibility.

متن کاملReabsorption of soft x-ray emission at high x-ray free-electron laser fluences.
We report on oxygen K-edge soft x-ray emission spectroscopy from a liquid water jet at the Linac Coherent Light Source. We observe significant changes in the spectral content when tuning over a wide range of incident x-ray fluences. In addition the total emission yield decreases at high fluences. These modifications result from reabsorption of x-ray emission by valence-excited molecules generat...
متن کاملSoft-x-ray coherent radiation using a single-cascade free-electron laser.
Coherent harmonic generation using single-pass free-electron lasers is a promising method for generating coherent radiation in the vacuum ultraviolet and x-ray spectral region. We propose a simple scheme allowing one to generate powerful coherent radiation in the soft x-ray region by making use of present available technology. The method relies on the possibility of creating substantial bunchin...
متن کاملA Source of Coherent Soft X-ray Radiation Based on High-order Harmonic Generation and Free Electron Lasers∗
We examine a scheme for a Free Electron Laser (FEL) harmonic amplifier seeded by a 30-nm wavelength signal produced using a process of High-order Harmonic Generation (HHG). The seed is first amplified in an optical klystron from 100 kW to 30 MW using a 1 GeV electron beam and then is used for an energy modulation of electrons in the downstream undulator. Subsequently, a 100MW level of radiation...
متن کاملSeeding of a soft-x-ray laser in a plasma waveguide by high harmonic generation.
A strongly saturated waveguide-based optical-field-ionization soft-x-ray laser seeded by high harmonic generation was demonstrated for Ni-like Kr lasing at 32.8 nm. Compared with the same laser seeded only with spontaneous emission, seeding with high harmonics yields much smaller divergence, enhanced spatial coherence, and controlled polarization. The integration of high harmonic seeding, optic...
